CAD Engineer – Wixom, MI

CAD Engineer

CAD Engineers utilize computer-aided design tools to create 3D models, layout drawings, engineering specifications, and simulations for industrial material handling and ergonomic equipment. This role requires a working knowledge of mechanical and Lean Six Sigma principles to design material-handling equipment either within a team or independently. CAD engineers require the ability to at times manage projects from start to finish.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design industrial material handling and ergonomic equipment

  • Create 3D solid and assembly models

  • Create 3D renderings and 2D layouts

  • Analyze models using FEA and dynamic simulation tools

  • Schedule activities to complete assigned tasks and projects, communicate and document requisite information per established NIS policies and procedures

  • Understand customer needs, apply technical knowledge to identify process requirements, recommend and implement custom engineered solutions

  • Demonstrate Engineering professionalism in all activities and provide efficient service to customers

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CAD platforms Solidworks or Inventor including solid modeling, assembly modeling, finite element analysis, dynamic simulation, and 3D rendering

  • Experience modeling parts for CNC machining and lasering preferred

  • Experience modeling weldments and sheet metal preferred

  • Some mechanical engineering education preferred
