Our recent work includes a pneumatically powered cart designed to hold the tip of a Boeing 777 wing throughout the epoxy application process. The pneumatic controls elevate the wing tip at 30 degrees to prevent the epoxy resin from running off while drying.
We chose to fabricate the cart using T-slot aluminum extrusions to guarantee its strength, rigidity, and durability. The square PVC posts were designed to hold the wing tip in place without scratching its finish and a retractable ratchet strap was incorporated into the design to secure the wing tip as the cart elevates the material. We equipped the cart with foam rollers to make it easier to load and unload the material without damaging it.
